Our Pathway Program

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) teaches kids how to use technique and smart thinking instead of strength. It can help children build:

  1. Real Confidence : Progress milestones show kids what they’re capable of when they commit.

  2. Focus & Self-Control: Skills that improve attention, behaviour, and emotional regulation.

  3. Respect & Teamwork: Every class builds respect for coaches, teammates, and themselves.

  4. Bully-Proof Mindset: Confidence to walk away—and the ability to protect themselves if needed.

Most importantly, it’s about respect, teamwork, and having fun while learning!

AscendX was formed with the purpose of creating a training school that is easily accessible, convenient, and offers a well-structured program for today’s generation of learners.

A Safe, Structured Environment for Every Child:

  • No uncontrolled sparring for beginners

  • Fully supervised partner training

  • Technique-first approach

  • Positive, supportive coaching

Mixed Martial Arts:

Not all martial arts are the same. At AscendX, children train in Mixed Martial Arts — combining :

  • striking disciplines (such as boxing and Muay Thai)

  • grappling disciplines (such as wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu).

Every student gets a complete martial arts education - classes that progressively build on striking, grappling, and MMA skills needed at every stage of development.

Students move through the program based on coach assessment — not just time or age:

Every student develops at the right pace. Progress to the next level is based on a criteria of:

  • Class attendance

  • Time spent at the current band

  • Skills and technique demonstrated

Band Levels

White Band

The entry-level foundation is where beginners learn the very basics of martial arts — stance, guard, simple jab combinations, safe falling, and mat awareness — while developing listening skills and respect for team members.

Grey Band

Builds on the foundation by refining striking technique with jab-cross combinations and defensive footwork, while also introducing partner-based grappling concepts like hip escapes, bridge-and-roll, and guard passing.

Yellow Band

Focuses on building fluid 2–4 strike combinations with defensive layers, alongside more serious grappling work including submission fundamentals, takedown entries, positional sparring, and a first taste of live drilling.

Orange Band

More tactical thinking across both striking and grappling, with students learning advanced combinations, boxing, submission transitions, live grappling rounds, and beginning to link striking and wrestling together in MMA-style sequences.

Green Band

Students develop a personal game, advanced guard systems, and full MMA integration, while also stepping into leadership roles — with performance-ready students working on game planning, competition preparation, and assisting junior coaches.

X Squad

The elite performance tier covering advanced boxing, wrestling, leg locks, opponent-specific tactics, and full live MMA sequences, while older students may also take on coaching assistant and leadership responsibilities within the gym.
